MarketingNoNo Triple Play Recap In Pictures Top 10 Lessons For All Real Estate Agents In 2010 Lesson 4Lesson 4: Know Your Makreting NO NOs! The following picture was taken at the 2009 Realtor Triple Play Convention trade show or expo floor. In the picture, you will notice that a vendor had a promotion for an Ipod Nano, except the sales representative was not present to give his or her sales pitch! In fact, I wasn’t sure who the vendor was to begin with. Ironically though, despite not having an sales agent present to talk to people, I witnessed several convention attendees drop their business card in the trash bin, which makes for a good lesson in marketing DOs and DON’Ts.

Obviously the point of marketing to get in front of buyers. In this case, the convention attendees participated in the promotion without knowing what the company was about.  If you make the promotion about the thing you are giving away, you lost the point of marketing, which is to offer a fair trade item. “You listen to my pitch, I will give you an opportunity to win something.”

Another way to look at it and how this picture relates to real estate sales is: leads (buyers and sellers)  have a short attention. If you don’t follow up, you lose the opportunity to earn a new client. Potential clients may give you their contact information, but if you are not present to pitch’em, you’re giving away more than just your value. Just one way to look at it.
